MASSE is a synth you shape with your hands, and a studio to finish the track in: sculpt a sound, jam it on keys, pads or a drum grid, and arrange it on tape. For iPhone.

Where are my songs?

Every song saves itself as you go, on your iPhone. Tap MASSE ▾ at the top of the screen, or open ARCHIVE › SONGS, to see them all. There you can rename the song you're in, start a new project, or go back to an earlier version.

How do I get my music out?

On TAPE, tap EXPORT. You can save the song as a WAV, MP3 or AAC file, as stems (one WAV per channel), as MIDI, or as a video of the shape. They go to the share sheet, so you can send them to Files, AirDrop or Messages.

Are my songs on my other iPhone?

Yes, if both are signed in to the same iCloud: MASSE syncs your songs through your own iCloud. ARCHIVE › SONGS shows when it last synced, and turns it off. If a song was changed on two phones at once, both versions are kept.

How do I send a whole song to someone?

EXPORT › SONG FILE makes a .masse file with every take in it. Send it by AirDrop, Messages or Files; tapping it on another iPhone opens it in MASSE. You can also open one from ARCHIVE › SONGS › OPEN A SONG FILE.

How do I record onto another track?

On TAPE, tap a track to make it the one you record onto. Or hold the red record button and pick a track from the list. Hold a track's name for its menu: name, icon, colour and EFFECTS.

What does CHAOS do?

CHAOS is in JAM. It's a square pad that bends the sound while you drag on it: FILTER, DELAY, REVERB, GLITCH or SPACE, a different one under each of two fingers. Press harder for more. WARP chooses what it bends: the sound you play, the beat, the whole song, or one track.

Can I play it from a MIDI keyboard?

Yes. Plug a USB MIDI keyboard into your iPhone and play.

When does it use the microphone?

Only while you record a VOICE sound or a MIC track. You can allow or block it in Settings › MASSE › Microphone.

I can't hear anything

Turn the volume up. MASSE plays even with the silent switch on. If headphones are connected, the sound goes to them.

Does it need the internet?

No. MASSE works entirely on your iPhone and collects nothing; only iCloud sync uses the network, through Apple. Read the privacy policy.
